General Manager's Position - 18 Aug 2008

Blayney Shire Council has an outstanding record of innovation and performance and is recognised for the standard and diversity of its facilities. Readily adjacent to the prominent regional centres of Bathurst and Orange, the Council has been promoted as a model for local authorities both in New South Wales and nationally.   

The new General Manager can be expected to find an enthusiatic workplace and community and will assume control of the strong governance principles, resources and assets that have been developed. The ability to communicate, to be desisive, to have a visionary approach and to respond to opportunities and aspirations will be important qualities for preferred consideration.

This position represents a stimulating local government challenge in a Council and community working in harmony and apart from appropriate qualifications, applications should market individual skills and attributes. Blayney has a strong partnership with Industrial ventures such as the mining industry and the position represents an ideal career option for ambitious and discerning candidates.

Bike Week - Tablelands Area Road Safety Program - 15 Aug 2008
Bike Week is a state wide initiative of the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) aimed at increasing the profile of bicycles in the community as a viable transport mode as well as promoting health, safety and supporting the environmental benefits associated with bicycle use. Bike Week 2008 is from Sunday 20 September to Sunday 28 September. As part of Bike Week 2008, Tablelands Area Road Safety and Blayney Shire Council will be hosting a Community Bike Ride on Saturday, 20 September commencing 12noon at Heritage Park. more ..

A team consists of 4 swimmers, all in the designated age group, plus a nominated reserve. The reserve swimmer may also be nominated in another team, but individuals can only swim in two events on the day, plus the Family Relay, so care should be taken to avoid over-commitment.

Mayoral Election Results - 26 May 2008
At an Extraordinary meeting of Council held on Friday 23rd May 2008, Cr Scott Ferguson was elected Mayor until the September 2008 General Elections.

This election was in accordance with Section 295 of the Local Government Act following the death of Cr Ted Wilson in May 2008. Cr Ferguson can be contacted on 6368 2221 (home) or 0418 637 828 (mobile) for comment.

Business Paper Availability - 23 Jan 2008

Copies of Council’s current Business Paper are available on the Friday prior to the meeting at the following locations:

(i) Post Office/General Store in Shire Village
(ii) A public viewing copy is available at the Council Chambers;
(iii) Copies of the paper are available for collection at the Council Chambers;
(iv) A PDF copy of the business paper is available on Council’s web page
(v) A viewing copy is available at “The Cottage” Visitors Information Centre Blayney; and
(vi) Papers copies of the business paper will be available in the Chambers on the evening of the meeting.

If a person requires a copy of a business paper other than the current paper, a copy of the business paper can be made available to them. However such a request may attract an administrative fee. This fee is detailed in Council’s annual Management Plan.

CENTROC calls for a war cabinet on drought and water supply - 26 Sep 2007

Supporting calls at the Drought Summit in Parkes by Cr Robert Wilson, Mayor of Parkes and the efforts of the Mid Lachlan Alliance especially Cr Maurice Simpson of Weddin, the Chair of Centroc, Cr John Davis is calling for a war cabinet on drought and water supply.

New Rainwater Tank Subsidy - 07 Sep 2007
The Wellington Blayney Cabonne (WBC) Alliance is encouraging residents to take advantage of the rebate that is now available for the installation of any new rainwater storage system for residential properties in NSW. The rebates are being funded from the NSW Government’s $310 million Climate Change Fund, which is helping business, households and government save energy and water.

Speaking on behalf of the WBC Alliance, the General Manager of Central Tablelands Water, Mr Tony Perry, advises that the rebate varies between $150 and $1,500 depending on tank size and whether it is plumbed to the toilet and washing machine. Eligibility for a rebate is as follows:

The tank(s) must have a minimum 2000-litre capacity and be purchased in full and installed between 1 July 2007 and 30 June 2009.Households not connected to the mains supply are eligible for a rebate for the purchase of the tank only.Rainwater tanks installed to comply with BASIX (the Building Sustainability Index) for new homes, major renovations or a pool installation are not eligible for a rebate.Mr Perry further advised that full terms and conditions and application form are available from the Council websites of Wellington, Blayney, Cabonne and Central Tablelands Water or by contacting either of the administration offices.
